Pergola ~ Rafters, Purlins & Parts

 

Rafters rest on the lintels and have purlins above. Rafters are typically spaced at 16" or 24" on center but can be closer.Purlins set on top of the rafters and should be placed at the same spacing as the rafters but may be set closer. Purlins are used for increasing the amount of shade but also to help the rafters resist twisting. Rafters and purlins are available in Mahogany, Western Red Cedar or SynCore™ a low-maintenance composite.


 


Rafter

Rafter Components  7"
Available in Mahogany, WRC & SynCore™

The 7" rafter component is supplied sanded, with eased edges, carved on one end and pre-drilled with countersink for attachment to the lintel.

Use Mahogany when you wish to leave the wood natural and your requirements do not exceed 12 feet in length.

Use WRC when your requirements are for longer lengths or when your structure is a color.

Use our composite SynCore™ when you want a white finish with low maintenance.

The Purlin is used to provide varying levels of shade and as a bracing component. It is provided sanded, with eased edges and carved ends.

Always attempt to incorporate some purlins in your design, a good approach is to use the same number of purlins as rafters ( at the same spacing ).

Use Mahogany when you wish to leave the wood natural and your requirements do not exceed 12 feet in length.

Use WRC when your requirements are for longer lengths or when your structure is a color.

Use our composite SynCore™ when you want a white finish with low maintenance.
