The
pergola
~ a classic garden structure with columns and lintels, rafters
and purlins. Climbing vines or trellis provide shade and a lovely
spot to sit and enjoy the garden. Sometimes the columns of the
pergola are round, Tuscan columns, with capitals and bases,
other times the pergola is a more restrained structure with
smaller, square columns. The pergola may be white, natural wood,
or green or gray. The pergola is often attached to the home
or freestanding in the garden but sometimes, it is very tasteful
when attached to an outbuilding.
Designs from FineHouse have the needed details and drawings
for building a strong structure that is both lovely and long
lasting. Pergolas are top heavy structures exposed to harsh
weather like a deck. These structures must be built with very
rigid connection details, proper attention to long-life and
good foundation conditions. Our plans and construction documents
attend to these issues.

Larger pergolas may be built using this pattern but
be sure to scale the columns accordingly, i.e. the 12'

for good proportion.
